here's a small section from the book that i am writing right now. 2 give u some background, the main character (Alex) is a 12 yr old orphan who finds out that she has the power 2 control fire.

I pretty much let her pull me around the room until she told me to stand on a stool. I didn’t get what she was going to do until she took out the scissors.
“Oh, please!” I looked at her as if to say, ‘seriously?’ “Is that the best you could do? Cut my hair?”
Teacher smirked at me and said, “Pretty much.”
“Wow, you’re lame. I thought a person like you would probably send me to the gallows or throw me into the fire.”
Teacher looked at me blankly and said, “I’m not allowed to send children to their death.”
“Oh, that makes sense now.” After a few moments of silence I said, “Alright, snip away. Oh, by the way, I have lice.”
Some girls at the tables in front of me shrieked.
“Whatever,” said Teacher while cutting a huge hunk of my hair off.
“Just kidding,” I smiled while covering up my Plan D. I had to go with Plan E which was— well, you’ll figure it out. While Teacher was busy cutting my hair, I got bored and started singing. “Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way! Oh what fun--"
“What are you doing?”
“Oh, I am so sorry. I never knew that it was against the law to sing “Jingle Bells.” Please forgive me!” I confessed sarcastically.
“Shut it!”
Plan E epically failed.
“Okay, okay . . . you almost done?”
“Do you want me to shave your head bald?”
“No.”
“Then shut it!”
“Yes, ma’am!” I saluted the air. Great, now I was going to have to go with Plan F which was, sadly, go with the flow. That sucked.

I like that your doing 1st person, and that they soud like a normal kid. 3rd person sounds like a adult talking

Classified Identity, i totally understand your point of view with the whole 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person thing. 1st person just seems that people could relate to it more!=D
GoneFan, yeah, a lot of people seem to have negative thoughts toward teachers, although some of them can be really nice, so i decided that a lot of people could relate to my book if i added a little conflict between the protagonist and Teacher! Thanks for reading!
